Holy Spirit

Holy Family in northeast Fresno was our de facto parish when we lived in the Central Valley, before we moved to Hawaii. So I think it is fitting that it is the first church we visit to offer prayers for our beloved nephew Lucas who was born and raised in Fresno. And we love Fr. Patty McCormick who became pastor in 2014, a year before we arrived.

By the time we moved to the Central Valley, Holy Family was a well established parish that serves the northern urban areas of Fresno as well as surrounding Friant, Millerton Lake areas and parts of Madera County. The parish was established in 1981, with land donated by the Wathen family.

I just always think of this as our family parish since my borthers Eric and Mike's families regularly went here, too. It was also a place of serenity and consolation when Chris and I first moved here. Those times when Chris was still making the trips back and forth to and from New Jersey and I'd be by myself, I'd still faithfully go to Sunday morning mass here. We always felt welcomed here and the choir is just fantastic, too.

I love the fountain in the front where people can gather and kids can enjoy the wonder of the cool fountain in the heart of Fresno heat.
